Nomenclatural History

The subspecies Haloincola saccharolyticus saccharolyticus was originally described and validly published by Cayol et al. 1994. Euzéby corrected this name from Haloincola saccharolytica saccharolytica (sic) to Haloincola saccharolyticus saccharolyticus . In 1994, Cayol et al. reduced
Haloincola saccharolyticus corrig. Zhilina et al. 1992 emend. Cayol et al. 1994
to the rank of subspecies. In 1995, Rainey et al. established Haloincola saccharolyticus saccharolyticus as the basonym of
Halanaerobium saccharolyticum saccharolyticum corrig. (Zhilina et al. 1992) Rainey et al. 1995
