Nomenclatural History
The species Halorubrobacterium lacusprofundi was originally described by Kamekura and Dyall-Smith 1995. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 57 in 1996. Kamekura and Dyall-Smith formed this name in 1995 by placing the species Franzmann et al. 1989 into the genus McGenity and Grant 1996 emend. Oren et al. 2009. Oren and Ventosa established as a later homotypic synonym of (Franzmann et al. 1989) McGenity and Grant 1996 in 1996.
