The species Streptomyces pharetrae was originally described by Le Roes and Meyers 2005. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 106 in 2005. Madhaiyan et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces glaucescens (Preobrazhenskaya 1957) Pridham et al. 1958 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Madhaiyan et al. 2020
in 2020.
