Nomenclatural History	The species Thalassobius gelatinovorus was originally described by Arahal et al. 2005. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 107 in 2006. Arahal et al. formed this name in 2005 by placing the species Ruegeria gelatinovorans corrig. (Rüger and Höfle 1992) Uchino et al. 1999 into the genus Thalassobius Arahal et al. 2005 emend. Hördt et al. 2020.
