Szokoli et al. 2016 suggest that the Caedibacter-Nucleicultrix clade, including Caedibacter caryophilus, Caedibacter varicaedens, “Caedibacter macronucleorum” (all endosymbionts of Paramecium species), “Candidatus Nucleicultrix amoebiphila” (endosymbiont of Hartmannella sp.) are also members of this order. However, no taxonomic proposals have been published to move these taxa into the order.
