Nomenclatural History
The species Methanobacterium thermoformicicum was originally described by Zhilina and Ilarionov 1984. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 21 in 1986. Touzel et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of corrig. Zeikus and Wolfe 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Touzel et al. 1992 in 1992.
