Nomenclatural History
The species Ruegeria gelatinovorans was originally described by Uchino et al. 1998. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 68 in 1999. Upon validation, this name was corrected from (sic) to . Uchino et al. formed this name in 1998 by placing the species (ex Ahrens 1968) Rüger and Höfle 1992 into the genus Uchino et al. 1999 emend. Wirth and Whitman 2018. In 2005, Arahal et al. established as the basonym of (Rüger and Höfle 1992) Arahal et al. 2006 .
