The species Sphingomonas xenophaga was originally described and validly published by Stolz et al. 2000. In 2006, Pal et al. established Sphingomonas xenophaga as the basonym of
Sphingobium xenophagum (Stolz et al. 2000) Pal et al. 2006 emend. Feng et al. 2019
.
