Nomenclatural History
The species Sphingobium xenophagum was originally described and validly published by Pal et al. 2006. Feng et al. published an emended description of this species in 2019. Pal et al. formed this name in 2006 by placing the species Stolz et al. 2000 into the genus Takeuchi et al. 2001 emend. Li et al. 2013. Feng et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Chen et al. 2016 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 in 2019.
