The subspecies Bartonella vinsonii vinsonii was originally described and validly published by Kordick et al. 1996. In 1996, Kordick et al. reduced (Weiss and Dasch 1982) Brenner et al. 1993 emend. Kordick et al. 1996 to the rank of subspecies.
