The species Ochrobactrum anthropi was originally described and validly published by Holmes et al. 1988. Gazolla Volpiano et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Trujillo et al. 2006 in 2019. In 2020, Hördt et al. established as the basonym of (Holmes et al. 1988) Hördt et al. 2020 .
