The species Rhodopseudomonas blastica was originally described by Eckersley and Dow 1980. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 6 in 1981. In 1993, Kawasaki et al. established as the basonym of corrig. (Eckersley and Dow 1981) Kawasaki et al. 1994 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 . In 2020, Hördt et al. established as the basonym of (Eckersley and Dow 1981) Hördt et al. 2020 .
