The genus Achromobacter was originally proposed and validly published by Yabuuchi and Yano 1981. Yabuuchi et al. published an emended description of this genus in 1998.

This name is not Achromobacter Bergey 1923. Achromobacter Yabuuchi and Yano 1981 was revived for use as a different taxon.
