Nomenclatural History

The genus Nitrosolobus was originally proposed by Watson et al. 1971. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Watson published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Head et al. transferred the members of this genus into
Nitrosospira Winogradsky and Winogradsky 1933 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Head et al. 1993
in 1993.
