Nomenclatural History
|
The species Azomonas macrocytogenes was originally described by Baillie et al. 1962. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1982 the name was revived and validly published by New and Tchan. Baillie et al. formed this name in 1962 by placing the species
Azotobacter macrocytogenes Jensen 1955 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Azomonas Winogradsky 1938 emend. Johnstone 1974 (Approved Lists 1980).
