Nomenclatural History
The species Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclasticus was originally described and validly published by Gauthier et al. 1992. Spröer et al. transferred the members of this species into Baumann et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1998. Márquez and Ventosa established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Nguyen et al. 1999 in 2005. Tindall established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Baumann et al. 1972) Tindall 2020 in 2020.
