Nomenclatural History	The species Vibrio fischeri was originally described by Lehmann and Neumann 1896. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Skerman et al. established Vibrio fischeri as an earlier homotypic synonym of Photobacterium fischeri (Beijerinck 1889) Reichelt and Baumann 1973 (Approved Lists 1980) pro synon. Vibrio fischeri (Beijerinck 1889) Lehmann and Neumann 1896 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1980. In 2007, Urbanczyk et al. established Vibrio fischeri as the basonym of Aliivibrio fischeri (Beijerinck 1889) Urbanczyk et al. 2007 .
