The genus Halogeometricum was originally proposed and validly published by Montalvo-Rodríguez et al. 1998. Cui et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2010. Qiu et al. transferred the members of Savage et al. 2008 emend. Cui et al. 2010 into this genus in 2013.
