Nomenclatural History
|
The genus Citrobacter was originally proposed by Werkman and Gillen 1932. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Sakazaki published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Farmer transferred the members of
Levinea Young et al. 1971 (Approved Lists 1980)
into this genus in 1981.
