The species Citrobacter koseri was originally described by Frederiksen 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Brenner et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Levinea malonatica Young et al. 1971 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 1993.
