The species Klebsiella mobilis was originally described by Bascomb et al. 1971. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Tindall et al. replaced this illegitimate name with (Hormaeche and Edwards 1960) Tindall et al. 2017 in 2017. Tindall et al. established as a later homotypic synonym of Hormaeche and Edwards 1960 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2017.
