Nomenclatural History
The genus Salmonella was originally proposed by Lignieres 1900. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 80 in 2005. Le Minor and Rohde published an emended description of this genus in 1974. White transferred the members of (Buchanan 1918) Bergey et al. 1923 into this genus in 1930.
