Nomenclatural History

The genus Xenorhabdus was originally proposed by Thomas and Poinar 1979. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Akhurst published an emended description of this genus in 1983. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Thomas and Poinar in 1983.
