Nomenclatural History
The genus Pasteurella was originally proposed by Trevisan 1887. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 58 in 1985. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum conservanda by Judicial Opinion 13 in 1954. Smith published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Mutters et al. in 1985.
