The species Desulfovibrio oxyclinae was originally described by Krekeler et al. 1997. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 76 in 2000. In 2019, Galushko and Kuever established as the basonym of (Krekeler et al. 2000) Waite et al. 2020 .
