Nomenclatural History
The species Cystobacter minor was originally described by McCurdy 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. corrected this name from (sic) to . In 2015, Lang et al. established as the basonym of (Krzemieniewska and Krzemieniewski 1926) Lang et al. 2015 .

Cystobacter minor has come into usage as the gender of the specific epithet matches the gender of the generic epithet. However, this name has not yet been validly published as a corrigendum.
