Nomenclatural History
The genus Campylobacter was originally proposed by Sebald and Véron 1963. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Smibert published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Tanner et al. in 1981, Vandamme et al. in 1991 and Vandamme et al. in 2010.
