The species Clostridium lactatifermentans was originally described and validly published by van der Wielen et al. 2002. In 2013, Yutin and Galperin established Clostridium lactatifermentans as the basonym of
Tyzzerella lactatifermentans (van der Wielen et al. 2002) Yutin and Galperin 2013
. In 2017, Ueki et al. established Clostridium lactatifermentans as the basonym of
Anaerotignum lactatifermentans (van der Wielen et al. 2002) Ueki et al. 2017
.
