Nomenclatural History
The species Eubacterium rectale was originally described by Prévot 1938. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion in 2020. In 2016, Rosero et al. established as the basonym of (Hauduroy et al. 1937) Rosero et al. 2016 .

The type strain of this species is the subject of a pending Request for an Opinion. The original type strain has been lost an a neotype has not yet been designated. This is the subject of Judicial Opinion 100, which was denied.
