Nomenclatural History
This name was validly published by List Editor 1988. The species Desulfotomaculum antarctica was originally described by Iizuka et al. 1969. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1986 the name was revived by Campbell and Singleton.
