Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Desulfotomaculum thermobenzoicum thermobenzoicum was originally described and validly published by Plugge et al. 2002. In 2002, Plugge et al. reduced Tasaki et al. 1991 emend. Plugge et al. 2002 to the rank of subspecies. In 2018, Watanabe et al. established as the basonym of (Tasaki et al. 1991) Watanabe et al. 2018 .
