Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Mycoplasma mycoides mycoides was originally described by Freundt 1955. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Manso-Silván et al. published an emended description of this subspecies in 2009. In 1955, Freundt reduced (Borrel et al. 1910) Freundt 1955 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies.
