Nomenclatural History
|
The genus Bacillus was originally proposed by Cohn 1872. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Gibson and Gordon published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Gupta et al. in 2020.
