Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 55 in 1995. The species Bacillus halodurans was originally described by Boyer et al. 1973. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1995 the name was revived by Nielsen et al.. Liu et al. published an emended description of this species in 2019. Liu et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Li et al. 2002 in 2019. In 2020, Patel and Gupta established as the basonym of (Nielsen et al. 1995) Patel and Gupta 2020 . In 2021, Joshi et al. established as the basonym of (Nielsen et al. 1995) Joshi et al. 2022 .
