Nomenclatural History
The species Geobacillus subterraneus was originally described and validly published by Nazina et al. 2001. Poli et al. published an emended description of this species in 2012. In 2012, Poli et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Nazina et al. 2001) Poli et al. 2013 .
