Nomenclatural History
The species Geobacillus thermodenitrificans was originally described and validly published by Nazina et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Coorevits et al. published an emended description of this species in 2012. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Cihan et al. in 2011. Nazina et al. formed this name in 2001 by placing the species (ex Klaushofer and Hollaus 1970) Manachini et al. 2000 into the genus Nazina et al. 2001 emend. Aliyu et al. 2018. In 2011, Cihan et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Manachini et al. 2000) Cihan et al. 2011 .
