Nomenclatural History
The genus Kurthia was originally proposed by Trevisan 1885. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum conservanda by Judicial Opinion 13 in 1954. Keddie and Rogosa published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Ruan et al. in 2014.
