Nomenclatural History
The species Staphylococcus caseolyticus was originally described by Evans 1916. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1982 the name was revived and validly published by Schleifer et al.. In 1998, Kloos et al. established as the basonym of (Schleifer et al. 1982) Kloos et al. 1998 .
