Nomenclatural History
The species Macrococcus caseolyticus was originally described and validly published by Kloos et al. 1998. Kloos et al. formed this name in 1998 by placing the species (ex Evans 1916) Schleifer et al. 1982 into the genus Kloos et al. 1998 emend. Mašlaňová et al. 2018. In 2018, Mašlaňová et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Schleifer et al. 1982) Mašlaňová et al. 2018 .
