Nomenclatural History
The genus Leuconostoc was originally proposed by van Tieghem 1878. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Garvie published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Bello et al. in 2022.
