Nomenclatural History

The species Leuconostoc fructosum was originally described and validly published by Antunes et al. 2002. Antunes et al. formed this name in 2002 by placing the species
Lactobacillus fructosus Kodama 1956 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Leuconostoc van Tieghem 1878 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Bello et al. 2022. In 2008, Endo and Okada established Leuconostoc fructosum as the basonym of
Fructobacillus fructosus (Kodama 1956) Endo and Okada 2008
