Nomenclatural History
The species Leuconostoc gasicomitatum was originally described by Björkroth et al. 2000. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 79 in 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Wu and Gu published an emended description of this species in 2021. In 2014, Rahkila et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Björkroth et al. 2001) Rahkila et al. 2014 .
