Nomenclatural History	The species Herpetosiphon persicus was originally described by Lewin 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1998, Sly et al. established Herpetosiphon persicus as the basonym of Lewinella persica (Lewin 1970) Sly et al. 1998 emend. Hahnke et al. 2016 .
