The subspecies Mobiluncus curtisii holmesii was originally described and validly published by Spiegel and Roberts 1984. Nouioui et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name
Mobiluncus holmesii (Spiegel and Roberts 1984) Nouioui et al. 2018
in 2018. Nouioui et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Falcivibrio vaginalis Hammann et al. 1984 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018
in 2018.
