Nomenclatural History

The species Brevibacterium lyticum was originally described by Takayama et al. 1960. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Stackebrandt et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Cellulosimicrobium cellulans (Metcalf and Brown 1957) Schumann et al. 2001
in 1982.
