Nomenclatural History	The species Cellulomonas cellulans was originally described by Stackebrandt and Keddie 1986. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 25 in 1988. Stackebrandt and Keddie formed this name in 1986 by placing the species Nocardia cellulans Metcalf and Brown 1957 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Cellulomonas Bergey et al. 1923 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Stackebrandt et al. 1982. In 2001, Schumann et al. established Cellulomonas cellulans as the basonym of Cellulosimicrobium cellulans (Metcalf and Brown 1957) Schumann et al. 2001 .
