Nomenclatural History	The subspecies Leifsonia xyli xyli was originally described and validly published by Evtushenko et al. 2000. Evtushenko et al. formed this name in 2000 by placing the subspecies Clavibacter xyli xyli Davis et al. 1984 into the species Leifsonia xyli (Davis et al. 1984) Evtushenko et al. 2000. In 2000, Evtushenko et al. reduced Leifsonia xyli (Davis et al. 1984) Evtushenko et al. 2000 to the rank of subspecies.
