Nomenclatural History

The subspecies Corynebacterium michiganense sepedonicum was originally described and validly published by Carlson and Vidaver 1982. In 1982, Carlson and Vidaver reduced
Corynebacterium sepedonicum (Spieckermann and Kotthoff 1914) Skaptason and Burkholder 1942 (Approved Lists 1980)
to the rank of subspecies. In 1984, Davis et al. established Corynebacterium michiganense sepedonicum as the basonym of
Clavibacter michiganensis sepedonicus corrig. (Spieckermann and Kotthoff 1914) Davis et al. 1984
