Nomenclatural History
The species Mycobacterium africanum was originally described by Castets et al. 1969. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Riojas et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Zopf 1883) Lehmann and Neumann 1896 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Riojas et al. 2018 in 2018.
