Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Mycobacterium avium avium was originally described and validly published by Thorel et al. 1990. In 1990, Thorel et al. reduced Chester 1901 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Thorel et al. 1990 to the rank of subspecies. Nouioui et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Ben Salah et al. 2009 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2018.
